Open Adoption Records in Manitoba

Adoption records are now OPEN and available through the Manitoba Post-Adoption Registry.

To apply for your Original Birth Registration, click here for the application. For more information about open adoption records in Manitoba and eligibility, visit the Manitoba Post-Adoption Registry website.

To access applications for non-identifying information and other forms, visit this link.

Adoption Orders can be accessed through Manitoba Courts.

*
Note that if you were born in one province and the adoption took place in another, the original birth registration, sometimes called the “pre-adoption birth certificate”, will need to be requested from the province you were born in. Adoption orders and background history information can be requested from the adoption agency in the province in which the adoption took place.
