I’m Jessica Landry, a Métis adoptee and professional genealogist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Treaty 1 territory and the homeland of the Métis Nation. I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and working towards my Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies from the National Institute of Genealogical Studies, focusing on Manitoban and Canadian records. I have over 10 years' experience researching my own family history and also hold a Certificate in Applied Counselling from the University of Manitoba.
I truly believe to understand ourselves as individuals, we must look to the past and understand those who came before us and have influenced us. After all, we are products of our experiences, and our first experiences and connections are with our families. Genealogy is much more than building a tree for me; it's about the search for answers and the healing that comes with finding the truth about our families' pasts.
